Beloved Disciple Statue Blessing
More than two years in the making the Beloved Disciple statue has finally arrived at Holy Family! According to renowned scholar, Fr. Raymond Brown, the Beloved Disciple is not one person but an image of all disciples. He said that, “All those whose follow Jesus seeking discipleship are in fact beloved.” The statue represents this notion. An image of all disciples. Not male or female, not belonging to any particular race or creed, not young or old. All are beloved. Nicodemus who comes to the Lord by night seeking meaning in his life, he is the Beloved Disciple. The Samaritan woman at the well, the woman taken in adultery…forgiven, healed and renewed by Jesus, these too are the Beloved Disciple. Every person at Holy Family belongs to the community of the Beloved Disciple and is invited to help build the reign of God on Earth by acting as a living example of Grace, Gratitude, and Generosity. The niche is no longer empty. The statue has come home to its permanent location where it will serve as a reminder that each person at Holy Family is indeed a Beloved Disciple.
